You know what the best part of Celebrate Fitness is? Is it the camaraderie with hundreds of your best friends? That’s great but no. Is it the variety of workouts you could do (Zumba, Yoga, Bootcamp, 5K, 10K or Water Aerobics)? No, but I would argue you won’t find another event so unique in St. Louis. I think the best part of Celebrate Fitness is that by participating, you’re not only getting a great workout, you’re also supporting Siteman Cancer Center, which is also unique-to-St. Louis.
In years past, this event has funded a mobile mammography van which has helped thousands of women in the St. Louis area. Currently the money raised goes to two different efforts: The Director’s Discovery Fund and Young Women’s Breast Cancer Programs. The Director’s Discovery Fund helps cancer researchers by providing funding they need to do the research needed to get grants, sort of like seed money. The Young Women’s Breast Cancer Program provides support and education to an age group that is often overlooked.
So, if you are looking for something to do on March 8th (this weekend), come to the Washington University Recreation Center. Day of registration will be accepted. The registration for the run starts at 6:30am and the race starts at 7:30am. The remaining events will start at 8:30am with registration proceeding at 7:30am
