Katie Kelly - Owner of Shanti Yoga

A yogi, nurse and traveler at heart, Katie has explored the world learning yoga, medicine and meditation. With an undergraduate degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Business from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado she brings to life her passion for wellness at the studio through yoga and agriculture, both of which she finds intrinsically linked to our health. Katie also recently graduated (August, 2015) from the Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes Jewish College. In addition to opening up Shanti Yoga at the age of 27, she concurrently graduated with her accelerated BSN degree and started working for SSM St. Mary’s Hospital as an Emergency Department Nurse. Katie is excited about educating and empowering people to take charge of their health and draws in anatomical and philosophical perspectives to her practices on the mat.

She received her yoga teacher training in India at Yoga Vidya Gurukul ( She furthered her studies at the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Center in Dharamsala building on alignment principals. Katie is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She offers a mindfulness based approach which she credits to her background in Vipassana meditation after completing a 10-day, silent retreat. Her intentions for teaching are to hold space for students to explore the inner workings of the practice. She encourages students to deepen their awareness by allowing them to draw their senses inward while exploring the deeper aspects of their human potential.
